Cats and Crappie Anyone?
The past couple weeks I've mostly fished for Crappie. With the
warmer than normal weather it's been a little on the tough side.
We've managed to take a pretty good sample of what's in the
lake, though. We've been catching: Largemouth and
Smallmouth Bass, Bluegill, Yellow and White Bass, Channel, Blue
and Flathead Catfish, Sauger and Crappie from 5" to 15". We
have another cool front hitting today and I look for the Crappie
bite to improve.

BLACK BASS: Largemouth Bass are being caught from 20' deep
on the main lake to 1' deep in the backs of bays. Spinner baits,
shallow cranks, top waters, and Carolina rigged plastic are
catching fish. The fish are scattered.

WHITE & YELLOW BASS: Catching lots of Yellow Bass while
Crappie fishing with minnows and small jigs some White Bass are
schooling in the bays but I caught them busting shad on the
main river channel the other day.

CRAPPIE: Catching Crappie as shallow as 6' and as deep as 30'
on brush. Small jigs and minnows are producing.

CATFISH: Good numbers of small cats are being caught 40' to 45'
deep on the main lake. The larger fish seem to be 20' to 30'
deep. Night crawlers, shrimp or minnows will get ya some.

BLUEGILL: Fish night crawlers around brush 6' to 20' deep.
Fall has been a little slow in coming, but come it will. I'm gonna
catch a fish today! How about you?

See ya on the water.
