Memorial Weekend is upon us and for me, this weekend marks the beginning of the good ledge fishing as well as remembering our Military personnel who’ve given their lives so we can enjoy our American Way of Life. Thank you!

BASS
The bass are starting to school up in deeper water. I’ve found a few good schools of both Smallmouth and Largemouth on deep ledges. With the cooler than normal water temps, higher than normal water elevation, abundance of grass, and lack of current, a lot of bass are still shallower and scattered. I look for the ledge fishing to improve in the next couple of weeks. For now, I’ve seen the better fish coming 10’ to 18’ deep on points and out of grass beds 6’ to 8’ deep. Top waters, crank baits, spinner baits, soft plastics, jigs, and spoons will all catch some bass. Pick your favorite bait and go catch you some!

WHITE BASS
Action has been fair fishing minnows, rooster tails, and spoons 15’ to 25’ deep on main lake humps and deep points at the mouths of bays.

CRAPPIE
I’ve caught some good sized Crappie lately fishing minnows 12’ to 18’ in deep brush piles and on white curly tails cast and retrieved 8’ to 10’ deep over points and brush.

BLUEGILL
Good Bluegill action can still be found. Fish 4’ to 10’ deep nearer the mouths of bays. Wax worms, crickets, and night crawlers are all productive.

CATFISH
Channel Cats are being caught on night crawlers and leeches fished 4’ to 10’ along shore and 25’ deep near the river channel. Blues can be caught at the mouths of bays and on the main lake. Fish minnows and leeches 25’ to 45’ deep.

You can view plenty of pictures of recent catches on my pictures page

Good Fishing.

Capt Kirk, out!
